Jane Asher joins cast of An American in Paris at the Dominion Theatre

Further casting has been announced for the London premiere.

Further casting has been announced for the upcoming UK premiere of An American in Paris which opens at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End on 1 April 2017, following previews from 4 March 2017, where it is booking to 30 September 2017.

Joining the previously announced London cast which includes British dancer Leanne Cope reprising her Drama Desk and Tony nominated role of 'Lise Dassin', alongside Robert Fairchild who originated the role of 'Jerry Mulligan' on Broadway will be Jane Asher as Madame Baurel, Haydn Oakley as Henri Baurel, David Seadon-Young as Adam Hochberg and Zoe Rainey as Milo Davenport. Ashley Day will play the alternate Jerry Mulligan, replacing Fairchild in the role from June 2017.

The full company will also include Julian Forsyth, Ashley Andrews, Sophie Apollonia, Zoe Arshamian, Sarah Bakker, James Barton, Alicia Beck, Chrissy Brooke, James Butcher, Jonathan Caguioa, Jennifer Davison, Katie Deacon, Rebecca Fennelly, Sebastian Goffin, Alyn Hawke, Nicky Henshall, Genevieve Heron, Amy Hollins, Frankie Jenna, Justin-Lee Jones, Robin Kent, Kristen McGarrity, Julia J. Nagle, Daniela Norman, Aaron Smyth, Todd Talbot, Max Westwell, Jack Wilcox, Carrie Willis, Stuart Winter and Liam Wrate.

The musical, which is inspired by the 1951 Academy Award-winning film of the same name, features music by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin and a book by Craig Lucas. It had its world premiere at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, before opening at Broadway's Palace Theatre on 12 April 2015 following previews from 13 March 2015. It was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and won four award including those for Best Scenic Design of a Musical and Best Choreography.

"Eager to begin his life anew after the brutality of combat, World War II Army veteran Jerry Mulligan chooses newly-liberated Paris as the place to make a name for himself as a painter. With the assistance of fellow ex-pat Milo Davenport, a wealthy American with a past she wishes to forget, Jerry's life becomes complicated when he meets Lise, a young Parisian shop girl with her own secret. Soon it becomes clear that Jerry's friends-Adam, a Jewish American composer, and Henri, a Parisian aristocrat-also vie for Lise's love."

The production is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon and features design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Jon Weston.

Jane Asher's stage credits include Festen at the Arts Theatre, The World's Biggest Diamond at the Royal Court Theatre, Bedroom Farce at the Rose Theatre, Charley's Aunt at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Pride and Prejudice at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park.

Haydn Oakley recently played Artie Green in Sunset Boulevard at the ENO. Other credits include the original London productions of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, The Book of Mormon, Betty Blue Eyes and Lend Me a Tenor.

Ashley Day has recently starred in Thoroughly Modern Millie at Kilworth House, The Book of Mormon and the UK Tour of Oklahoma! Full casting for An American in Paris is to be announced.
