Martin Kemp to star in Chicago in the West End

Martin Kemp is set to star in the West End production of Chicago, taking over from Cuba Gooding Jnr as Billy Flynn.

Kemp will take over as Flynn, the smooth lawyer tasked with defending Roxie and Velma who are on murder charges, at the Phoenix Theatre on 2nd July and will appear until 1st September. Tickets for Chicago are available now. 

Kemp, who is best known as a member of Spandau Ballet, has previously appeared in the UK tour of Million Dollar Quartet and is also known for playing Steve Owen in EastEnders. The cast joining Kemp for performances from 2nd July is yet to be announced. 

Until 30th June, the musical stars Gooding Jnr, Sarah Soetaert, Josefina Gabrielle, Ruthie Henshall and Paul Rider. 

Chicago returned to the West End after a 5 year absence, having run in London for 15 years from 1997. It features classic show tunes such as "All That Jazz", "Mr Cellophane", "Razzle Dazzle" and "We Both Reached for the Gun". It was also adapted into a Hollywood film starring Rene Zellweger, Catherine Zeta Jones and Richard Gere which won the academy Award for Best Picture in 2003.

Chicago is booking at the Phoenix Theatre until 6th October 2018.
