Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein to close in the West End in August
Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein will play its final performance in the West End this August.
The comedy musical based on Brooks' 1974 film of the same name, the show is about a doctor called Dr Frederick Frankenstein who travels to his grandfather's estate in Transylvania, where he reanimates a corpse in the laboratory.
When it opened at the Garrick Theatre last year, the cast included Ross Noble, Scarlett Strallen, Hadley Fraser and Lesley Joseph. Mark Shenton gave the production a five-star review, hailing the musical a 'thoroughly successful laughter generator'.
It features songs such as "Welcome to Transylvania", "Puttin' On The Ritz" and "Roll in the Hay", which can be expected to be heard on a cast recording that has been confirmed to be released later this year.
It has also been announced that the show will tour the UK in 2019.
Young Frankenstein is at the Garrick Theatre until 25th August 2018.
Young Frankenstein Tickets are available now.
