It is now confirmed that Steven Berkoff's Messiah - Scenes From A Crucifixion will open at the Old Vic Theatre 2 Dec 03, following previews from 25 Nov 03, and booking to 3 Jan 2004.

The play is directed by and stars Steven Berkoff as Satan.

Berkoff's radical interpretation of Biblical events finds Christ presented as a revolutionary figure, hatching a plot to overthrow the occupying Roman forces. The Christ figure is also tempted by Satan and believes he has a messianic prophecy to fulfil by his actions.
