National Theatre’s Beginning set to transfer to the West End
David Eldridge's new play Beginning is set to transfer to the West End following a sell-out run in the Dorfman at the National Theatre.
Directed by Polly Findlay, the two-hander stars Justine Mitchell and Sam Troughton as Laura and Danny and is set in the hours after party at Lucy's house.
It will transfer to the Ambassadors Theatre - where Stomp has been running for over a decade - and will run from 15th January to 24th March 2018, with an official opening night on 23rd January. Tickets are now on sale.
In his four-star review for this website, Mark Shenton said the piece "packs a lot into a short time", and is "acted with utter conviction and emotional truth by the gorgeously tentative Sam Troughton and a needy, vulnerable Justine Mitchell."
Beginning has design by Fly Davis, lighting design by Jack Knowles, sound design by Paul Arditti and movement by Naomi Said.
Eldridge's recent stage work includes an adaptation of August Strindberg's Miss Julie at the Royal Exchange in Mancester starring Maxine Peake, and Holy Warriors at Shakespeare's Globe.
Beginning will run at th Ambassadors Theatre form 15th January to 24th March 2018.
