Peribanez extends 1 week to 14 Jun 03 at Young Vic

Peribanez, by Lope de Vega, English version by Tanya Ronder, has been extended by one week to 14 June 03 at the Young Vic Theatre.

The production received good notices from the popular press when it opened for its limited run earlier this month: NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "The production maintains a tense, impassioned momentum and excitement." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "An enthralling evening." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "Bold, riveting production."

Peribanez is directed by Rufus Norris , designed by Ian MacNeil, lighting by Rick Fisher .

A peasant village in 17th century Spain. At the very moment that Peribanez and Casilda seal their marriage vows, the noble lord of their land is carried to their home at death's door. Casilda revives him and he falls hopelessly in love. He swears to possess her - but underestimates the power of love.
