"Phaedra" cancels first week previews at Donmar

Phaedra has cancelled its first week of previews after "a severe throat infection" forced the withdrawal of Paul Nicholls.

Previews, which were to start on 6 April, will now commence on Thu 13 April 2006, with a new opening (Press) night on Fri 21 April 2006 - running to 3 June 2006

Written by Frank McGuinness, after Racine, the play is directed by Tom Cairns and features: Clare Higgins, Linda Bassett, Sean Campion, Michael Feast, Lucy-Anne Holmes, Marcella Plunkett, Janet Whiteside

UPDATE Mon 10 April: Ben Meyjes has replaced Paul Nicholls.

Phaedra harbours a guilty secret - an overwhelming passion for her stepson Hippolytus, but he has a revelation even more terrible that could tear their world apart.
