Phantom of the Opera announces major cast changes

Major cast changes in The Phantom of the Opera, at Her Majesty's Theatre have been announced.

Foom 6 Oct 03 Katie Knight-Adams will take over the role of Christine, Ramin Karimloo the role of Raoul. Other major cast changes include (Carlotta), Sam Hiller (Monsier Andre), Heather Jackson (Madame Giry), Heidi Ann O'Brien (Meg).

Jim Heath will take over the role of 'Piangi' from 20 Oct 03.

John Owen-Jones will continue to star as 'The Phamtom', Richard Hazell as 'Monsieur Firmin'. And Nicky Adams will continue to play the role of 'Christine' at certain performances.

This long running musical, which has been playing in London since 1986, will enter its 18th year in London on 9 Oct 03. Directed by Harold Prince, it has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Charles Hart .

Worldwide, The Phantom of the Opera, has grossed over £3.5 billion. The box office revenues are higher than any film or stage play in history, including "Titanic", "ET" and "Star Wars". It has been seen in 112 cities in 21 countries and played to over 100 million people.

'This haunting musical traces the tragic love story of a beautiful opera singer and a young composer shamed by his physical appearance into a shadowy existence beneath the majestic Opera Paris House.'
