Rehearsal images for Saint George and the Dragon at the National Theatre
Rehearsal images have been released for Saint George and the Dragon, a new play by Rory Mullarkey based on the classic English myth.
Directed by Lyndsey Turner, the play is about a down on his luck knight who returns home to his village to find it has been taken over by a dragon. Playwright Mullarkey has described the process for creating the play as "making a folk talk from scratch", comparing it to superhero blockbusters on screen that aren't so much seen on stage.
It will star John Heffernan (Oppenheimer) as George, with a cast that includes Gawn Grainger, Richard Goulding, Tamzin Griffin, Stephanie Jacob, Jeff Rawle and Kirsty Rider.
Saint George and the Dragon runs in the Olivier Theatre (in rep with Follies) at the National Theatre from 4th October to 2nd December.
