Shadowlands to transfer to Novello 21 December

William Nicholson's Shadowlands, which ends its run at the Wyndham's on 15 Dec 2007, will transfer to the Novello Theatre from 21 Dec 2007, booking to 23 Feb 2008.

Charles Dance (CS Lewis) & Janie Dee (Joy Gresham) wil transfer with the play.

The play opened at the Wyndham's Theatre on 8 Oct 2007, following previews from 3 Oct 2007 to terrific notices from the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Charles Dance's extraordinarily moving performance..." THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "A play that explores love, faith and the fragility of human happiness with great grace and generosity." THE TIMES says, "[Charles] Dance's...subtle, delicate account of a man waylaid by feelings he never knew he possessed."

It is directed by Michael Barker-Caven, designed by Matthew Wright, with lighting by Peter Mumford.

The true love story of CS Lewis and Joy Gresham. Lewis, a leading Christian academic and author of many classic books including The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, , remained a bachelor until his fifties, when he met Joy Davidman. He was enchanted by this remarkable American woman, a divorcee with two young children. They fell in love and were secretly married. Lewis' ensuing encounter with love and suffering led him to reconsider many of the beliefs he had held so staunchly before their fateful meeting.
