A new production of Side by Side by Sondheim will open at The Venue, in Leicester Square, on 1 May 2007, following previews from 26 April - booking to 14 July 2007

First seen on Broadway in 1977, this musical revue celebrates the work of Stephen Sondheim from classic musicals such as West Side Story, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, Pacific Overtures and A Little Night Music.

It is directed by Hannah Chissick, with musical staging by Adam Cooper. It is designed by Bob Bailey , lighting by Robert Jones and musical direction by Michael Haslam.

The show is performed by three vocalists, two pianists and a narrator. (Cast to be confirmed).

Side by Side by Sondheim was conceived by singer Cleo Laine and her husband John Dankworth. It has original narration written by Ned Sherrin with additional music by Leonard Bernstein, Mary Rodgers, Richard Rodgers and Jule Styne.
