Simon Callow & Ronald Pickup to join McKellen & Stewart in cast of Waiting For Godot

Cast update for Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot, which opens at the Haymarket Theatre 6 May 2009, following previews from 30 April - for a limited run to 28 June 2009.

Simon Callow (Pozzo) and Ronald Pickup (Lucky) will join previously mentioned Ian McKellen (Estragon) & Patrick Stewart.

It is directed by Sean Mathias, designed by Stephen Brimson Lewis, lighting by Paul Pyant. It is produced by Theatre Royal Haymarket Company in partnership with Duncan C. Weldon Productions Ltd.

Waiting for Godot follows two consecutive days in the lives of tramps, Vladimir and Estragon , who divert themselves by clowning around, joking and arguing, while waiting expectantly and unsuccessfully for the mysterious Godot.

Simon Callow's London stage credits include: "The Woman in White" at the Palace in 2005; "The Holy Terror" at the Duke of York's in 2004; "Through The Leaves" at the Duchess in 2003; "The Mystery of Charles Dickens" at the Comedy & Albery Theatres in 2000 & 2002; "The Importance of Being Oscar " at the Savoy in 1996; "The Alchemist" at the Olivier, NT in 1996.

Ronald Pickup's London stage credits includes "Proof" at the Donmar in 2002; "Peer Gynt" & "Romeo and Juliet"at the Lyttelton NT in 2000; "Amy's View" at the Lyttelton, NT in 1997.

(Prior to the Theatre Royal Haymarket run, Waiting for Godot tours to Malvern Theatres (5 - 14 March), Milton Keynes Theatre (16 - 21 March), Brighton Theatre Royal (23 - 28 March), Bath Theatre Royal (30 March - 4 April), Norwich Theatre Royal (6 - 11 April), Edinburgh King's Theatre (13 - 18 April) and Newcastle Theatre Royal (20 - 25 April).)
