The Dark Side of Love - Dorfman Hub space at Roundhouse

The Roundhouse and LIFT in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company for The World Shakespeare Festival presents The Dark Side of Love, by Renato Rocha inspired by William Shakespeare tragedies, with music by Jules Maxwell, at the Dorfman Hub space, at the Roundhouse Theatre, in Chalk Farm, north London from 26 June to 8 July 2012.

For many of Shakespeare's most tragic characters, love represents not solely an ascent into heavenly bliss, but also a descent into hellish despair. Brazilian director Renato Rocha will stage his exploration of Shakespeare's most painful and poignant moments deep in the Dorfman Hub space beneath the Roundhouse. This unique underground space will be transformed into a dreamlike underworld that draws on the rich cultural tapestry of Brazil and will be suffused with digital projections.

Including scenes from Hamlet, Othello and Romeo and Juliet, The Dark Side of Love is an' intense and atmospheric ' experience performed in promenade by a cast of London teenagers.

Directed by Renato Rocha, designed by Georgia Lowe, lighting by Richard Williamson.
