The Gruffalo's Child will return to the West End this holiday season, playing at the Lyric Theatre from 24 November to 11 January 2026.

Based on the 2004 picture book by Julia Donaldson, with illustrations by Axel Scheffler, The Gruffalo's Child tells of the title character as she defies her parents' warnings about the Big Bad Mouse and ventures into the woods to find adventure and discover whether the Mouse is truly real. The production features original music, puppets, and plenty of humour.

The cast features Joe Lindley as the Gruffalo and Predators, Hannah Miller as the Gruffalo’s Child, Sabrina Simohamed as the Narrator and Mouse, and Robin Harris as the understudy.

Director Olivia Jacobs, who returns after staging previous productions of The Gruffalo's Child, said in a statement: “I love directing The Gruffalo’s Child and having the opportunity to work with this brilliant new cast who bring an original, fresh energy to the show. It’s a magical story, which feels hugely relevant to modern day parents/carers and young audience members.

"We want to protect our children, of course, but parenting isn’t a choice between building a fortress or allowing a free-for-all. The Gruffalo says ‘Don’t go into the wood’ and inevitably, his daughter does... But her adventure fosters resilience and confidence, sparks creativity and imagination. We need to encourage that in our children. But we also need them to know, just as the Gruffalo’s Child does, that they can always come home.”

The Gruffalo's Child is produced by the family-friendly theatre company Tall Stories and has toured the world since its 2006 premiere.
