The Sound of Music extends to 14 Sep 2013

The Sound of Music has extended by one week to 14 Sep 2013 at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park.

Now in the third week of its run, and having already taken £1.75million at the box office, the show has become the highest grossing production in the history of the Regent's Park Open Air theatre.

Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, the show opened 5 Aug 2013, following previews from 25 July to good notices from the popular press: Charles Spencer for The Daily Telegraph says, "This new production in the idyllic surroundings of Regent's Park is the finest I have ever seen." Henry Hitchings for The Evening Standard says, "Rachel Kavanaugh's buoyant production is respectful rather than radical, albeit with smart touches of wit and some new musical settings."

Cast includes Charlotte Wakefield (Maria Rainer), Michael Xavier (Captain Von Trapp), Faye Brookes (Liesl), Helen Hobson (Mother Abbess), Caroline Keiff (Elsa Schraeder), Joshua Tonks (Rolf).

Music by Richard Rodgers, lyric Oscar Hammerstein II, Book by Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse, suggested by 'The Trapp Family Singers' by Maria Augusta Trapp.

The score for The Sound Of Music includes My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd and of course the title song The Sound of Music.
