It has been announced that Tyrone Huntley will star in the European premiere of The View UpStairs at the Soho Theatre, opening later this year.

First performed at an off-Broadway venue in 2017, the musical follows Wes, a fashion designer soon after buying an abandoned space, who learns that the space was once a gay bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans, targeted in an arson attack in 1973. The London premiere is one of ten productions of The View UpStairs to be performed around the world from 2017 to 2019.

Tyrone Huntley will play Wes. Recently making his directorial debut in Ain't Misbehavin' at Southwark Playhouse, Huntley is best known for his Olivier Award-nominated performance in Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, also appearing in Memphis and The Book of Mormon.

Huntley joins the previously announced cast including John Partridge, Andy Mientus, Declan Bennett, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Cedric Neal, Carly Mercedes Dyer, Gary Lee, Joseph Prouse and Derek Hagen.

The View UpStairs will also host a gala night on 24th July, raising money for AKT, a national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity.

The View UpStairs is at the Soho Theatre from 18th July to 24th August.
