Waiting For Godot extends to 9 Aug 2009

Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot, extends a further 2 weeks, making the final performance Sunday 9 August 2009.

Directed by Sean Mathias, the play features Ian McKellen (Estragon), Patrick Stewart (Vladimir), Simon Callow (Pozzo), Ronald Pickup (Lucky).

Waiting For Godot opened at the Haymarket Theatre on 6 May 2009, following previews from 30 April, to good notices from the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD says, "McKellen and Stewart mesh delightfully together."THE INDEPENDENT says, "It's a wonderful double act." THE GUARDIAN says, "While there is much to enjoy in the production, I felt I was watching talented comic performers rather than listening to the still sad music of humanity." THE TIMES says, "Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen happen also to be superb classic actors — and they proved it with performances that were at once subtle and commanding, touching and funny, vulnerable and dignified and just about everything we could expect Vladimir and Estragon to be."

It is designed by Stephen Brimson Lewis, lighting by Paul Pyant. It is produced by Theatre Royal Haymarket Company in partnership with Duncan C. Weldon Productions Ltd.

Waiting for Godot follows two consecutive days in the lives of tramps, Vladimir and Estragon , who divert themselves by clowning around, joking and arguing, while waiting expectantly and unsuccessfully for the mysterious Godot.
