Trevor Nunn has been one of the dominant forces in British theatre for over half a century now. He became the artistic director of the RSC 51 years ago, when he was just 28 years old, a post he held until 1986; he also held a one-term tenure as artistic director at the National, in-between Richard Eyre and Nicholas Hytner, between 1997 and 2003.

It went on to have rehearsed readings at the National Theatre, and a full production directed by Nunn at the Ustinov Studio in Bath.
