Actor Sam Kelly dies at the age of 70

Actor Sam Kelly has died at the age of 70, after a long illness.

He is best known for his TV work as Captain Hans Geering in 'Allo 'Allo, Ted Liversidge in Barbara and as Bunny Warren in Porridge.

His recent London stage credits include The Wizard in "Wicked" in 2009/2010 and returning to the role in November 2013, before departing the production due to ill health. His other London stage credits include "Grief" at the Cottesloe, NT in 2011; "Remembrance Day" at the Royal Court in 2011; "When We Are Married" at the Garrick in 2010; Female of the Species" at the Vaudeville in 2008; "Kean" at the Apollo in 2007; "Dick Whittington and His Cat" at the Barbican in 2006; "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum" at the Olivier, NT in 2004; "Aladdin" with Ian McKellen at the Old Vic in 2004/2005.
