"ART" TRANFERS TO WHITEHALL THEATRE 16th OCT 01

"ART" TRANFERS TO WHITEHALL THEATRE 16th OCT 01

It has been announced that Yasmina Reza's Art will transfer from the Wyndham's Theatre to the Whitehall Theatre on 16th Oct 01. The show will have its last performance at the Wyndham's on 14th Oct 2001, exactly 5 years since the show opened in 1996. "Art" is now the Wyndham's longest ever running play!

The cast at the Whitehall is expected to be the regional touring cast of "Art", Nigel Havers, Barry Foster and David Lloyd Pack.

Sunday performances will no longer take place as the Whitehall Theatre is on Crown land and there is a law preventing the theatre from having performances on Sundays. Instead, the show will play on Mondays.

ART by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, opened in London at Wyndham's Theatre on 15th Oct 1996 starring Albert Finney, Tom Courtenay and Ken Stott, and won both the Evening Standard Drama Award and the Laurence Olivier Award for 'Best Comedy'. "ART" is the play with the most Olivier Award nominations ever, having received five in 1997, and the New York production won both the Tony Award and the New York Critics Award for 'Best Play'. "ART" is directed by Matthew Warchus, with this production re-directed by Rachel Kavanaugh. It is designed by Mark Thompson and produced by David Pugh Limited and Sean Connery.

Art at the Wyndham's until 14th Oct 01
Art at the Whitehall from 16th Oct 01
