Cake and Congo by Laura McCluskey at Theatre503

Waiting in the Dark presents Cake and Congo, written & directed by Laura McCluskey, at Theatre503, a 60-seat fringe venue above the Latchmere Pub, in Battersea, south London, from 27 Aug to 14 Sep 2013.

It is designed by Vicky Sweatman, lighting by Avril Cook, choreography by Johnny Ong. Cast includes Akiya Henry (Amba), Jade Williams (Eleanor), Faith Edwards (Leonie), Amy Newton (Kelly).

When Amba dances, she's in control. Since she and her aunty fled the Congo as refugees, they're certainly far safer, but there isn't much cash about. Aunt Leonie may be happy with a cleaning job and a slice of cake after work, but Amba's looking for more . . . Will she follow her dream to become a dancer or get caught up in the pursuit of 'easy' money in the dark world of lap dancing . . ?
