Actress Carey Mulligan will star in the world premiere of Dennis Kelly's new play Girls & Boys, which will be directed by Lyndsey Turner at the Royal Court.

Kelly's play is about a random-chance meeting at an airport in the queue for an EasyJet flight that leads to an intense relationship and subsequent marriage and kids.

Mulligan is known for her appearances in films such as Suffragette and The Great Gatsby, and television work such as Doctor Who and Agatha Christie's Marple. Her stage work at the Royal Court includes The Seagull, and she has also appeared in the West End in Skylight (Wyndham's) and The Hypochondriac (Almeida).

Playwright Dennis Kelly's previous theatre work includes Matilda the Musical, The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas, and Love & Money. His television work also includes Utopia and Pulling.

Girls and Boys marks the first collaboration between Kelly and director Lyndsey Turner (Posh, Contractions, A Miracle). The production will also have set design by Es Devlin, costume design by Jack Galloway, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick and sound design by Dave McSeveney.

Girls and Boys is at the Royal Court from 8th February to 10th March, with an official opening on 15th February.
