Donmar's "Voyage Round My Father" to transfer to Wyndham's

John Mortimer's Voyage Round My Father, starring Derek Jacobi is to transfer from the Donmar Warehouse to the Wyndham's Theatre, opening 21 Sep 2006, following previews from 14 Sep - booking to 14 Dec 2006.

Voyage Round My Father has been playing to sold out houses at the Donmar Warehouse since opening 13 June 2006, following previews from 8 June - ending 5 Aug 2006. The popular press said: "Beautifully pitched and acted production (EVENING STANDARD); "The play leaves us guessing and manages to stay funny and intelligent ." (THE TIMES ); "Derek Jacobi's fine portrayal." (THE INDEPENDENT); "An evening of rare and continuous pleasure." (THE DAILY TELEGRAPH).

It is directed by Thea Sharrock, designed by Robert Jones with lighting by Peter Mumford.

John Mortimer's autobiographical play is the affectionate portrait of a son's relationship with his father. Growing up in the shadow of a brilliant barrister, who adored his garden and hated visitors, and whose blindness was never mentioned, the son continually yearns for his father's love and respect.

(Sunday in the Park With George, which is currently playing at the Wyndham's Theatre, will end its run as scheduled on 2 Sep 2006)
