After a limited engagement at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Equus will transfer to Trafalgar Studio One later this year, it has been announced.

Inspired by Peter Shaffer's psychological thriller, Equus tells the story of Martin Dysart, a psychiatrist who treats the teenage Alan Strang, a young man with a fascination for horses. As passions and spiritualities collide, individuals begin to doubt their motives and their relationships to one another.

Ethan Kai will reprise his performance as Alan Strang, alongside Robert Finch, Keith Gilmore, Norah Lopez Holden, Ira Mandela and Zubin Varla who will also return to the production.

Further casting for Equus is to be announced.

The production is directed by Ned Bennett, whose previous directorial credits include An Octoroon at the Orange Tree Theatre, which transferred to the National Theatre and Pomona, which was also performed at the National.

In a four star review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mark Shenton praised the innovative production qualities, that allow the story to "come alive as if freshly minted".

Equus is at Trafalgar Studio One from 6th July to 7th September.

Equus tickets will go on sale soon.
