European Premiere of Maltby and Shire's Closer Than Ever

Maltby and Shire's musical Closer Than Ever will have its European premiere at the Jermyn Street Theatre, central London from 6 May to 7 June 2014.

This revised version of Richard Maltby, Jr and David Shire's musical features new material, and was originally presented at the York Theatre in New York in 2012. The original version premiered at the Cherry Lane Theatre, New York in 1989 and has since been seen all around the world.

The London production will feature Graham Bickley (Ragtime, Miss Saigon, Follies) Sophie-Louise Dann (Lend Me a Tenor, Sunday in The Park With George, Gay's The Word),Issy van Randwyck (Fascinating Aïda, Kiss Me Kate, A Little Night Music)and Arvid Larsen (Eurobeat, Jesus Christ Superstar). It will be directed by Richard Maltby, Jnr with choreography by Emily Maltby and musical direction by Nathan Martin.

Closer Than Ever describes itself as: "a roller-coaster ride of modern day manners with a focus on the ups and downs of love. From unrequited adoration to aging, from just-mates to marriage rites, from parenting to passing, each song is a different story told by a different character, a journey into the mind of an individual as he or she faces what it is to be human, to love, to lose, to triumph and to love again..."
