Everybody’s Talking About Jamie extends in the West End into 2020
West End musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie has extended its run at the Apollo Theatre into 2020, with the show now booking until next January.
The show, which recently saw Layton Williams take over the lead role from its originator John McCrea, tells the story of a teenage boy who faces challenges when he decides he wants to wear a dress to his high school prom.
Written by Tom MacRae and songwriter Dan Gillespie Sells, the musical, which is set in Sheffield, transferred from Sheffield Crucible to the Apollo Theatre in November 2017 after producer Nica Burns caught the final matinee of the original run.
Announcing the extension, Burns said: "Thank you to our fantastic audiences and critics for continuing to talk about Jamie and keeping us in the West End alongside some of the world's favourite musicals."
Williams will continue to play Jamie New until January 2020 and he said, "I love seeing the joy it brings to audience members after every show. It fills my heart and hopefully theirs too".
The current cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie also includes Shane Richie, Hayley Tamaddon, Alex Anstey and Luke Baker.
Everybody's Talking About Jamie is booking at the Apollo Theatre until 25th January 2019.
