Frances de la Tour cast in Alan Bennett's new play People

It has been confirmed by the National Theatre that Frances de la Tour, Nicholas Le Prevost, Selina Cadell, Linda Bassett, Peter Egan have been cast in Alan Bennett's new play People, directed by Nicholas Hytner, at the National Theatre from Oct/Nov this year. (Exact dates to be announced at the end of August).

Details of the plot of Bennett's new play is secret and will not be revealed until the first preview performance.

Frances de la Tour has starred in the last two Alan Bennett's plays at the National Theatre, "The Habit Of Art" in 2009 and "The History Boys" in 2004 & 2005. Her other London stage credits include "Boeing Boeing" at the Comedy Theatre in 2007; "Dance of Death" at the Lyric in 2003; "Fallen Angels" at the Apollo in 2000; "The Forest" at the Lyttelton, NT in 1999; "Blinded by the Sun" at the Cottesloe, NT in 1996; "Three Tall Women" at the Wyndham's in 1994. She is still known for her role as Miss Ruth Jones in the British 70s sitcom Rising Damp.
