Goldberg withdraws from Sister Act - Family Illness
Whoopi Goldberg, withdraw from Sister Act The Musical on Friday 27 August, after her mother suffered a severe stroke. She was due to star to 31 August, but will now miss the next six scheduled performances. The role of Mother Superior will now be played by Goldberg's understudy until Thursday 2 September, when Sally Dexter will assume the role.

Sister Act The Musical opened at the London Palladium on 2 June 2009, following previews from 7 May, and will close on 30 Oct 2010.
Based on the 1992 film, the stage musical has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner.
It is directed by Peter Schneider, designed by Klara Zieglerova, choreography by Anthony Van Laast, lighting by Natasha Katz, sound by Mick Potter, Musical Director Nick Skilbeck.
It is produced by Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment.
When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found - a convent!
