Producers of the West End production of Hamilton, Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, The Public Theater and Cameron Mackintosh, have today confirmed that the show will begin previews in London's West End in November 2017 at the Victoria Palace Theatre, with an official opening date in December 2017. They also confirmed that tickets for the much anticipated London run will go on general sale on 30 January 2017.

The production was initially expected to open in October 2017, but this date has now been extended. Creator and original Tony Award-winning star Lin Manuel-Miranda confirmed that he's expecting to join the London production some time during 2018, rather than at the beginning of the run, in order to fit in with his previously arranged filming dates for Disney's upcoming remake of Mary Poppins in which he stars alongside Emily Blunt.

Auditions for the London production of Hamilton are currently underway, with an open call for singers and dancers due to take place in the coming weeks.

Speaking today, Cameron Mackintosh said of the casting: "We have already started the casting process and are very excited by the tremendous diverse talents that we are already seeing for the production which opens at the Victoria Palace in just over a year's time, December 2017".

He went on to talk about the production reopening the Victoria Palace Theatre: "The recently acquired Victoria Palace Theatre is currently in the process of a major renovation and expansion that will bring it into the 21st century so that it can offer the public the same mix of glamour and comfort enjoyed by my other West End theatres. I couldn't be more thrilled that the brilliant Hamilton, already acclaimed as one of the landmark musicals of the 21st Century, is going to re-launch the much loved theatre on its next 100 years."

Winner of 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, Hamilton has transcended musical theatre to become a cultural icon around the world. After originally opening off-Broadway at the Public Theater, it is currently playing on Broadway at The Richard Rodgers Theatre and this week began performances in Chicago.

Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, and is based on Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton.
