Hershey Felder is set to star in two musical plays this autumn about the lives of composers Irving Berlin and Leonard Bernstein.

Felder is a renowned Canadian actor, playwright and pianist who will tell personal stories of the composers in two musical-plays featuring their music. The two plays will alternate at The Other Palace from 22 September.

Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin will see Felder embody the role of the American composer and lyricist who is responsible for such show tunes as "There's No Business Like Show Business", "White Christmas" and "Puttin On The Ritz". Musicals which include scores predominantly written by Berlin include Watc Your Step, Top Hat, Annie Get Your Gun and Ziegfeld Follies. It will run from 22nd to 24th and 27th and 28th September, and 9th to 15th October.

The story sees Berlin start as a child refugee from Czarist Russia and follows him as he rises up through the ranks as a songwriter in New York writing musicals and film scores, for which he won eight Academy Awards.

Maestro is Felder's play about Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein is responsible for some of the most recognisable scores in musical history, penning shows such as On the Town, West Side Story and Wonderful Town. It will run at The Other Palace from 25th to 26th September, 30th September to 7th October and 19th and 22nd October.

Each show has a book by Felder, who has previously appeared in the West End in his musical tribute, George Gershwin Alone which ran at the Duchess Theatre in 2004. His other works include Beethoven, As I Knew Him and Monsieur Chopin.

Maestro and Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin will run at The Other Palace from September.
