Initial casting has been announced for the Menier Chocolate Factory's upcoming production of Fiddler on the Roof, which is set to run this Christmas.

Trevor Nunn directs the musical, which has music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and a book by Joseph Stein. The story follows a milkman called Tevye, his wife and five daughters, and features songs such as "If I Were A Rich Man", and "Sunrise, Sunset".

Andy Nyman leads the cast as Tevye, and he will be joined by Judy Kuhn (Golde), Harriet Bunton (Hodel), Dermot Canavan (Lazar Wolf), Stewart Clarke (Perchik), Matt Corner (Fyedka), Joshua Gannon (Motel), Louise Gold (Yente), Kirsty MacLaren (Chava) and Molly Osborne (Tzeitel).

Fiddler on the Roof runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 23rd November, with an official opening night on 5th December.

Nyman returns to the Menier after performances in Sondheim's Assassins, as well as Abigail's Party, which subsequently transferred to Wyndham's Theatre. His other theatre work includes Martin McDonagh's Hangmen, and Ghost Stories.

Four-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn may be best-known to some as the voice behind "Colors of the Wind", the anthemic number from the 1995 Disney film Pocahontas. Her stage credits on Broadway include Fun Home, She Loves Me and Les Miserables.

This new production of Fiddler on the Roof will have choreography by Matt Cole, set design by Robert Jones, costumes by Jonathan Lipman, hair and makeup from Richard Mawbey, lighting by Tim Lutkin, and sound design by Gregory Clarke.

Fiddler on the Roof is at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 23rd November 2018 to 9th March 2019.
