Iris Theatre has announced the two productions it will present as part of its tenth anniversary season at The Actor's Church, St Paul's Church in Covent Garden.

The company has produced promenade productions at the church every summer since 2009, and recent years have seen productions of The Tempest, The Three Musketeers, Macbeth and Treasure Island, as it produces a play by Shakespeare and another classic work.

This year, the company will produce Hamlet from 19th June to 27th July. The production is set in modern day London as Hamlet returns home from university as his country is in crisis: on the edge of Europe, his father is murdered, and his right-wing uncle has seized power.

Then, from 1st August to 1st September a new family-friendly adaptation of Victor Hugo's Hunchback of Notre Dame by Benjamin Polya will conclude the season. The outdoor production will follow Esmerelda as she battles to fund her long-lost mother in Paris.

Casting and creatives for both productions are yet to be announced.

Hamlet will run at Iris Theatre, St Paul's Church, Covent Garden from 19th June to 27th July. The Hunchback of Notre Dame will then run from 1st August to 1st September.
