The Almeida Theatre production of King Charles III by Mike Bartlett, has announced it will transfer to the West End's Wyndham's Theatre this Autumn. It will begin previews on 02 Sep 2014, with an official opening set for 11 Sep and will continue its limited engagement through to 29 Nov 2014.

The cast of King Charles III includes Tim Pigott-Smith (as Charles), Richard Goulding, Nyasha Hatendi, Adam James, Margot Leicester, Tom Robertson, Nicholas Rowe, Tafline Steen and Lydia Wilson.

Synopsis: 'The Queen is dead: afer a lifetime of waiting, the prince ascends the throne. A future of power. But how to rule? This controversial piece of new writing looks at the modern state of the monarchy and the unwritten rules of democracy. Mike Bartlett examines the people underneath the crown and looks into the consciousness of Britain's most famous family.'

King Charles III is directed by Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold, scenic design by Tom Scutt, music by Jocelyn Pook, lighting by Jon Clark, and sound design by Paul Arditti. The West End transfer production will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Stuart Thompson Productions and the Almeida Theatre.

Following the tremendously successful trend of co-ventures between Sonia Friedman and the Almeida Theatre, King Charles III is the fourth co-production looking to garner the same success. In the past year, this partnership has earned a total of 8 Olivier Awards - 5 for 'Chimerica' including Best New Play, which transferred to the Harold Pinter Theatre, and 3 for 'Ghosts' including Best Revival of a Play, for its transfer to the Trafalgar Studios. The stage adaptation of George Orwell's '1984' has also transferred to the Playhouse Theatre and has just extended its run there to 23 Aug 2014.

The current production of King Charles III opened at the Almeida Theatre on 10 Apr 2014 to excellent reviews. It will conclude its Almeida run on 31 May 2014.
