"LA CAVA" TO CLOSE 3RD FEB 2001

La Cava The Musical,  has posted closing notices at the Piccadilly Theatre. The last performance will be on 3rd Feb 2001. (The show originally booking to April 01)

This new musical, which has book by Dana Broccoli , music by Laurence O'Keefe, lyrics by John Claflin & Laurence O'Keefe, with additional music by Stephen Keeling, originally opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in June this year, but then transferred to the Picadilly Theatre in August in a hope that the better positioned Piccadilly theatre would boost attendances. However, it seems to have been in vain and thus will close after a run of only 8 months.

Directed by Steven Dexter, the cast currently features Oliver Tobias as 'King Roderich' and Julie-Alanah Brighten as 'Florinda'.

Based on a true story set in Spain in 711 when Julian starts a war between the Moors and Spain in the belief that his daughter Florinda has been seduced by King Roderich. Florinda is in love with Roderich although she has been promised in marriage to an army officer and is also loved by an Arab teenager.
