Boys of the Empire productions bring the London premiere of Sandel to the Above the Stag Theatre in Vauxhall, south London, from 20 May - 14 June 2014.

Based on the novel by Angus Stewart, Sandel has been adapted for the stage by Glenn Chandler (creator of 'Taggart', the ITV detective series), and comes to London following a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013. The book was cult gay reading from its publication in 1968, and has since been republished, and remains a controversial look at the power of love in any age.

The play is set in 1960's Oxford and follows a love affair between 19 year old undergraduate David and choir boy Antony Sandel. As David is punished for infringing regulations, he moves to teach at the choir school where Sandel is a pupil.

Sandel is directed by Glenn Chandler and features set and costume design by David Shields, with lighting by Chris Withers.

Above the Stag Theatre is known for its LGBT focussed programming, and has recently returned to its new home in Vauxhall.
