It has been announced that Lucie Jones and Ashley Roberts will join the cast of Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre.

Jones will take over the role of Jenna from Katharine McPhee. After competing on The X Factor in 2009, Jones has enjoyed a decade-long theatre career, playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Emma in Ghost the Musical and Cosette in Les Miserables. In 2017, she sang for the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Never Give Up on You", placing 15th in the competition.

Roberts will make her West End debut in Waitress, taking over the role of Dawn from Laura Baldwin. Performing as one-fifth of the Pussycat Dolls, Roberts competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 with professional partner, Pasha Kovalev and is the highest scoring contestant to have taken part in the competition.

Jones and Roberts will join the cast of Waitress on 17th June. They will perform alongside the current cast including Marisha Wallace, David Hunter, Peter Hannah, Shaun Prendergast, Kelly Agbowu, Piers Bate, Nicole Raquel Dennis, Michael Hamway, Stephen Leask, Chris McGuigan, Olivia Moore, Nathaniel Morrison, Sarah O'Connor, Leanne Pinder and Charlotte Riby.

Laura Baldwin will return to Waitress in the summer.

Waitress opened at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2019, and follows waitress and pie-maker Jenna Hunterson as she enters a pie competition in order to earn a cash prize, start a new life and move away from her abusive husband. The musical features an original score by Sara Bareilles, with songs including "She Used to be Mine" and "You Matter to Me".

In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mark Shenton said Waitress has a big heart, that offers an "intimate everyday story of the power of workplace friendships and the joys of pie-baking - but not, as you might fear, full of sugar but also containing quite a lot of spice."

Waitress is at the Adelphi Theatre.
