Marriage by Nikolai Gogol - Jack Studio Theatre
Ballast Theatre presents a new production of Marriage by Nikolai Gogol, adapted by Howard Colyer at the Jack Studio Theatre in south-east London from 24 June to 12 July 2014.
"He wants to get married; and he doesn't want to get married - he doesn't know what to do. But he has a friend who knows what's best for everyone. Marriage is Gogol's farce about desire, matchmakers, Imperial Russian speed dating and much else besides..."
Nikolai Gogol was born in 1809 in the Ukraine. He was famous for writing short stories, plays and one novel, combining comedy, absurdity and tragedy, quickly aligning himself firmly amongst the ranks of Russian authors. His best known plays are 'The Government Inspector' and 'Marriage', which has been adapted by Howard Colyer who has previously brought Gogol's story 'The Overcoat' to the Jack Studio in Jan 2011.
The production will be directed by Scott Le Crass. Casting is yet to be announced.
