MICHAEL WILLIAMS HAS DIED

Actor, Michael Williams has died, aged 65, after a long battle with lung cancer . He died yesterday at his home surrounded by friends, family and his actress wife, Judi Dench.

His theatre credits include being a leading member of The Royal Shakespeare Company for fourteen years. His West End credits include "Pack of Lies", "Two into One", "Mr & Mrs Nobody" and "Out Of Order". His most recent credits include the one man show "Brief Lives" at the Duchess Theatre in 1998, and "The Forest" at the National in 1999.

He has also appeared in many TV shows, most notably the sitcom "A Fine Romance", opposite his wife Judi Dench.

He married Judi Dench in 1971. The couple would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary next month. They have one daughter, Finty.

For years it was his habit to send his wife a red rose on Friday, wherever she might be.
