The Bread and Roses Theatre, a new pub theatre in Clapham, south London, will present a new production of Miss Julie by August Strindberg, adapted and directed by Tessa Hart running from 28 April to 16 May 2015 with an official opening on 1 May 2015.

Strindberg's drama was originally written in 1888 and caused a scandal when first produced. It follows young socialite Miss Julie as she struggles to find her place and sense of purpose in life. After breaking up with her latest fiancé, she amuses herself by attending the servants' ball on Midsummer's Eve and takes a particular liking to handsome butler John, himself engaged to the cook Christine. They soon get into a series of dangerous mind games as things quickly spiral out of control.

The cast will include Rebecca Pryle, Adam Alexander, and Grace Dunne. It will feature Designs by Eve Merchant and Sound and Lighting Design by Rajiv Pattani.

The Bread & Roses Theatre officially launched in November 2014.
