The Gershwin musical My One and Only , has posted early closing notices for 3rd Aug 02 after a run of 6 months at the Piccadilly Theatre. (it was booking to 11th Jan 03 )
The show opened to good reviews from the popular press when in opened in February.... This musical by George and Ira Gershwin with book by Peter Stone and Timothy S Mayer, based on the show Funny Face, is directed by Loveday Ingram, and stars Janie Dee and Tim Flavin.
The show is a song and dance feast featuring Gershwin melodies including 'S Wonderful', 'How Long Has This Been Going On', 'Nice Work If You Can Get', Strike Up The Band'. Set in New York during the heady Twenties - when dames were dames and guys were rarely gentlemen - it follows the fortunes of swimming-troupe member Edythe Herbert and her beau Captain Billy Buck Chandler.
