Nick Hytner announces future productions at National

Nick Hytner has announced future productions at the National Theatre.

The theatre aims to perform regularly on Sundays and have set the target to begin, at first for an autumn/winter season,in 2008 as a planned precursor to a year-round operation.

Productions in 2008 include The Year Of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, starring Vanessa Redgrave at the Lyttelton (This play opened on Broadway in March 2007); A revival of Bernard Shaw's Major Barbara, directed by Nick Hytner; Ibsen's Little Eyolf reworked by Samuel Adamson, directed by Marianne Elliott; The Revenger's Tragedy directed by Melly Still.

It was also announced that David Hare's new play (as yet untitled and subject unknown), directed by Howard Davies, should be ready for 2008.

Also announced for 2008 is a new play by Michael Frayn, directed by Michael Blakemore; a collaboration between actress Juliette Binoche and choreographer Akram Khan, and a new Tony Harrison play.

As prevously announced Ralph Fiennes, to star in a new production of Oedipus, directed by Jonathan Kent, in the Olivier
