It is reported that the Olivier Award-winning playwright Kevin Elyot has sadly passed away, after a long illness, at the age of 62. Mr. Elyot is perhaps best known for his 1994 comedy play My Night With Reg, as well as his films 'Clapham Junction' (2007), 'No Night is Too Long' (2006), and 'Christopher and His Kind' (2011).

The Birmingham-born playwright began his career as an actor before making his professional writing debut at the Bush Theatre in 1982 with 'Coming Clean'. He garnered critical acclaim, as his play My Night With Reg won the 1995 Olivier Award for Best Comedy. Over the years, his work has been staged in the West End, at the National Theatre, the Royal Court and Royal Shakespeare Company.

It was recently announced that the Donmar Warehouse will revive his comedy My Night With Reg from 31 Jul to 27 Sep 2014 in a production to be directed by Robert Hastie.
