It has been reported that Ben Elton and Brian May are making a musical about the rock group Queen, which is expected to open in the West End later this year or early next year.

Guitarist Brian May said the band had been working on a musical for four years and hoped to stage a production by the end of the year."The rumour is that we're doing a musical, which is true," he told London radio station Capital Gold.

The band members, May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor will not appear in the musical.

Queen were one of the biggest bands in the world in the late 1970s and 1980s but lost their lead singer Freddie Mercury to Aids in 1992.
