Russell Grant to join Midnight Tango at Phoenix from 30 Jan

Russell Grant, who starred in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2011, will once again find himself sharing the dance floor with his favourite partner, Flavia Cacace, along with Vincent Simone, when he joins them to star in Midnight Tango, when the show returns to the West End, opening at the Phoenix Theatre, 5 Feb 2013, following previews from 30 Jan - running to 23 March 2013, when it will then go on a national tour. (The show was at the Aldwych Theatre earlier this year 20 Jan to 31 March 2012)

The producers, Arlene Phillips and Adam Spiegel, will be throwing Russell a huge birthday party by moving the press night to his birthday, Tuesday 5 February.

Arlene Phillips said of the casting, "I'm delighted that Russell Grant will be performing and dancing in MIDNIGHT TANGO with Vincent and Flavia. Russell's partnership with Flavia is well known, but I too have had a dance partnership with Russell, which began with his appearance in the title role of The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium, followed by playing Teen Angel in the current national tour of Grease, and I'm delighted we now have a third partnership."

Midnight Tango is set in a late-night bar in downtown Buenos Aires. 'Brings to life all the drama, sensuality and elegance of the tango. A journey into the heart of this intoxicating city, as danger and excitement, joy and jealousy, pain and passion combine into a spectacular and explosive evening.'

Live music will be provided by tango band, Tango Siempre, featuring vocalist Miguel Angel.

It is directed by Karen Bruce, designed by Morgan Large, lighting by James Whiteside. Produced by Arlene Phillips and Adam Spiegel.
