Soldier's Fortune, to close one week early on 24 March 2007 at the Young Vic Theatre

The Soldier's Fortune, by Thomas Otway, is to close one week early at the Young Vic Theatre. The last performance will be this Saturday 24 March 2007.

The comedy opended at the Young Vic Theatre 22 Feb 2007, following previews from 15 Feb to poor notices from the popular press: NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "If there have been less amusing classic comedy revivals since the Eighties I have luckily missed them. " MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "Distinctly heavy-going, with laughter thin on the ground." ALISTER SMITH for THE STAGE says, " The production fails to rise above the status of a curiosity piece."

The cast includes: Anne-Marie Duff, David Bamber, Ray Fearon, Alec Newman, Oliver Ford Davies, Kate Feldschreiber, Michael Howcroft, Sam Kenyon, Kananu Kirimi, Lisa Lee Leslie, James Traherne, Ben Turner.

It is directed by David Lan, designed by Lizzie Clachan , lighting by Rick Fisher, choreography Lynne Page, costumes Joan Wadge , sound by Paul Groothuis and music by Tim Sutton.

Clarinda, unhappily married to the aged, infatuated Sir Davey Dunce, concocts a plan to reverse her fortunes.
