A new production of Jason Robert Brown's Songs for a New World will run at the St James Theatre, a fringe venue in Victoria, from 22 July to 8 August 2015, with an official opening on 24 July 2015, celebrating 20 years since the musical revue first opened off-Broadway.

"It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back." (Jason Robert Brown).

Songs for a New World weaves characters, locations and time periods together in one setting - from the deck of a Spanish sailing ship to the window-ledge of a New York penthouse. The eclectic score take audiences on a journey through life-changing moments that define us.

The musical premiered Off-Broadway in 1995 in a production directed by Daisy Prince. It has been seen around the world, and made its UK premiere at the Bridewell Theatre in 2001. Songs from the show have moulded the modern musical theatre canon and have become favourites with both audiences and performers.

Composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown is currently represented on Broadway by the musical 'Honeymoon in Vegas'. He took home the Tony Award last season for his musical adaptation of 'The Bridges of Madison County', and has this year released the film version of his early musical 'The Last Five Years'. Other Broadway credits include '13' and 'Parade' which won the Drama Desk and Critics' Circle Awards for Best New Musical.

Casting for the production is to be announced in due course.

Tickets for Songs for a New World will go on general sale on Monday 9 March 2015.
