Tell Me On A Sunday reduces booking period by one week to 26 July 03

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tell Me On A Sunday starring Denise Van Outen, which was booking to 2 Aug 03, has reduced its booking period by one week at the Gielgud theatre to 26 July 03, suggesting the show will end on this date?

The show opened last month to luke-warm notices from the popular press: THE GUARDIAN says, "Although it has some good songs, it seems a slight piece that is scarcely rendered more plausible by the presence of the sassy, sexy Denise Van Outen." THE INDEPENDENT says, "Lloyd Webber's music is laughably trite. Van Outen seems a nice girl, but her singing and acting are very average." THE TIMES says, " She's [Van Outen] at her best when Don Black's often adroit, witty lyrics allow her to be sharp, funny and derisive about men." THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "It's trite, it's sentimental, it is profoundly second-rate." THE EVENING STANDARD says, "It feels old. Without Van Outen, I suspect it would feel even older."

Tell Me On A Sunday became a best-selling album on its release in 1979 and was subsequently staged as part of "Song & Dance" at the Palace Theatre in 1981.

Tell Me On A Sunday has been expanded and reworked for this new production to provide a full evening in the theatre.

The show has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Don Black, with additional contributions by Jackie Clune. It is directed by Matthew Warchus.
