The Golden Voice delays opening at Arts Theatre

"Due to investment money from China being tied up in international banking red tape", the new musical The Golden Voice, has delayed its opening at the Arts Theatre. The musical was originally planned to preview from tonight, 12 June, and open on 19 June 2013, but will now open at the Arts Theatre on 26 July, previewing from 17 July. The limited season is still due to end on 31 Aug 2013.

General Manager, Julian Stoneman said, "New musicals all bring their own individual set of challenges, but now we have the green light from the producer's international bank, the cast and crew are raring to go. The set is looking spectacular and I am truly excited about what the next couple of months will bring for Mr Fogarty's production."

The Golden Voice has music, lyrics and book by Nick Fogarty, directed by Guy Retallack, designed by Jamie Turner, choreography by Jordi Guitart, lighting by Richard Williamson, sound by Chris Full. Produced by Rob Hewitt and Nick Fogarty for Abbey Investments (Golden Voice) Limited.

The cast includes Darren Day (Mike Chariot), Sebastian Torkia, Yvette Robinson, George Maguire, Natalie McQueen, Daniel Robinson, Nina French, Joe Sterling, Imogen Brooke, Patrick Burbridge, Sarah Goggin, Tom Newman, Jason Gray, Stephie Crocker, Joseph Claus.

Fame hungry singer Mike Chariot, betrays his best friend and abandons his childhood sweetheart to win the nation's favourite talent show 'The Golden Voice', but he quickly realises he is merely a puppet for the record company and television executives. Too famous to return to his old life, he decides to disappear. After a brief media frenzy, the machine moves on and he is all but forgotten. Almost 20 years on, a wiser Mike Chariot is back to make amends and help young singers and musicians achieve their dreams without having to enter television talent shows. However his noble quest will bring him back in contact with his embittered former best friend Jim Ryan, who descended into a life of crime after Chariot's departure from their band caused it to break up. Jim now has the power to exact his revenge.
