The Other Mozart at the St James Studio Theatre

Little Matchstick Factory will bring the off-Broadway production of The Other Mozart, created and performed by Sylvia Milo, to the St James Studio, a fringe theatre in Victoria, from 8 to 19 September 2015.

The production tells the true story of Nannerl Mozart, the sister of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was a prodigy, keyboard virtuoso and composer in her own right. She performed throughout Europe with her brother to equal acclaim, but her work and her story faded away, lost to history.

Directed by Isaac Byrne, the drama is based on facts, using material directly from the Mozart family's humorous and heart-breaking letters.

Sylvia Milo stars in the one woman drama, which is set in and on a magnificent five and a half meter dress, created to fill and spill over the entire stage, designed by Magdalena Dąbrowska.

The Other Mozart was nominated for the 2015 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Design in a Play and the 2015 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Solo Performance.

The production will also feature music composed by Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen with additional music by Marianna Martines and Wolfgang A. Mozart. Sound design is by Nathan Davis, with lighting design by Joshua Rose and period style movement directed by Janice Orlandi. Costume design is by Magdalena Dabrowska and Miodrag Guberinic.
