VIVIAN ELLIS PRIZE DISBANDED

It is reported that The Vivian Ellis Prize has been disbanded because of excessive costs.

The award has been running for 16 years and had become a prestigious West End event.

It is reported that the creation of a showcase for new musical writing will fill the gap left by the Vivian Ellis Prize, called World Quest for New Musicals and is expected to  take place bi-annually, from Oct 2002, as part of the Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre.
